COUNTSCENE / FREE BETA

Good questions. Clear answers.

Can I program an interactive widget?

Yes. Widget Lab includes a JavaScript/CSS workspace, the CountScene Widget SDK, working game/data starters and developer documentation. Code runs in a separate worker inside an isolated frame. It can render supported components and read only the countdown and data selected for that widget. It cannot access accounts, payments, messaging or the app database.

Can widgets use changing data?

Yes. Create editable JSON, a public GitHub JSON feed or a latest-release feed in Widget Lab → Data sources. Select it in the page widget controls. Sharing is opt-in; remote feeds refresh on demand roughly once a minute. No credentials, private repositories or arbitrary API endpoints are supported.

Can I sell my widgets?

Widget Lab includes a reviewed widget marketplace and buyer collection. Free acquisition works now; paid checkout requires configured payments and seller onboarding. Buyers install independent code snapshots. Changing a source project withdraws listing approval and does not silently update installed copies.

What can I create?

Create individual countdowns or complete pages containing multiple timers, stories, media, agendas, a memory game and time capsules. Countdown pages offer eleven widget types, three starting templates and responsive column layouts. Each countdown keeps its own detailed fonts, elements, audio, background and completion experience.

Is it free?

Free includes three saved countdowns, two countdown pages, ten saved widget designs, original themes and branded exports. Creator and Studio are planned at $12 and $29 per month. Paid checkout remains unavailable until the business connects and tests billing.

Which files can I upload?

Images: PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 5 MB. Audio: MP3, M4A/AAC, OGG or WAV up to 25 MB. Finale PDFs: up to 10 MB. Fonts: WOFF2, WOFF, TTF or OTF up to 2 MB. MP4/WebM video: up to 25 MB, 60 seconds and 1920 px per side. See the media guide for detailed recommendations.

Why does music not start automatically?

Visitors must first choose “Enter with sound.” Browsers restrict autoplay and support different codecs. MP3 is recommended. A closed tab cannot play a finale song or chime.

Will everyone reach zero together?

All visitors use the same saved UTC deadline. Online pages periodically compare their clocks with server time. Connectivity, device scheduling and browser throttling can still introduce small differences.

What does private mean?

Private countdowns require their owner to sign in. Unlisted countdowns are accessible to anyone with their link after the overall site is public. They are not password-protected. While this Site is owner-private, external visitors cannot access even countdowns marked public.

Are reveals actually hidden?

The online page, API and media endpoints withhold protected reveal text and files until the deadline. A secret image reused as a public background is already public. Offline files contain their reveal content and cannot keep it secret from inspection.

Can I upload a font?

Yes. Choose a bundled typeface or upload WOFF2, WOFF, TTF or OTF up to 2 MB. Apply a font to the entire countdown or one element. You must have the required web-embedding and redistribution rights.

Can backgrounds move?

Yes. Animate any existing image with drift, zoom or pan, enable optional pointer parallax, or upload a muted MP4/WebM loop. Background video is limited to 25 MB, 60 seconds and 1920 px per side. AI-made clips can be uploaded; AI video generation is not connected.

Can I edit each number?

Yes. Select an individual unit to change its font, size, color and position, rename its label or reorder units. Values still come from the actual deadline. Optional Time Explorer lets viewers tap a unit for the total remaining time.

Is this full 3D?

The current depth presets use layered CSS, perspective tilt, glass cards, holographic gradients and raised lettering. They do not create a 3D model from a photo. Motion can be paused and respects reduced-motion preferences.

Can I connect YouTube?

Paste a normal YouTube video, Short or livestream URL. Vimeo, Twitch and Spotify links are also supported. Players load only with the viewer’s permission. This is embedding, not account authorization or schedule synchronization.

Can I embed a timer on another site?

Yes, once CountScene is opened to external visitors and your timer is published as public or unlisted. Copy its iframe from Share & publish. The destination must permit iframes and its plan may require an HTML/embed block.

Can I sell a complete countdown page?

Yes. In Marketplace choose Whole-page designs, then My listings. Save a listing from a page you own, confirm distribution rights and submit it for owner review. The source page must be public and its timers shared. Private finale content is replaced with placeholders. Free acquisition works without billing; paid checkout requires payment setup and seller onboarding.

Will a template copy change the original?

Page templates and the page duplicate action create independent countdowns. Multiple widgets showing the same timer share one new countdown. You can shift every deadline together. Page and countdown plan limits both apply. Media from marketplace designs is copied into the buyer’s account.

Can AI design a complete page?

Design help in Countdown pages offers built-in guided suggestions without a provider. Live AI, when connected, can suggest supported page layouts and copy using your existing timers. Review and apply the proposal, then save. It cannot generate video, change countdown records or add unrestricted code.

What works offline?

Standalone HTML keeps the core timer, fonts, element styling and positioning, image motion and supported image/text/button reveals. Pointer depth effects, SDK code widgets, dynamic feeds and video are excluded. External players, uploads not embedded in that file, PDF downloads, audio, analytics and messages require online services. Saved countdown pages also export as visual HTML with stories, images, agendas, playable memory games, local-clock capsules and restricted HTML/CSS widgets. Every included secret is inspectable. Editable page bundles contain full timer settings but reference your account-owned media; they are not a media-transfer archive.

Are email and SMS working?

Not until the business connects the delivery providers and an authenticated scheduler. Saving a timer alone does not send a message. Provider acceptance is not a guarantee of receipt.

Do analytics count unique people?

No. Views count page loads, including repeated and automated visits. Supported interactions count once per page session. Media loads do not measure watch time. Countdown reports start with Release 1 and countdown-page reports with Release 2. Page analytics exclude owner previews and background refreshes. Previous totals are not backfilled.

Can I sell designs?

You can prepare listings and submit free templates for review. Paid sales require the business’s Stripe integration, seller onboarding and testing. Sellers must have rights to distribute included artwork and audio. Private reveal content is excluded from reusable marketplace templates.

Can I use my own code or any embedded widget?

Use Custom HTML / CSS for presentation designs, or Widget Lab and the CountScene SDK for interactive JavaScript widgets. Both run inside restricted boundaries without account or database access. SDK widgets can receive the countdown and data you explicitly select. Supported external media providers are YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch and Spotify; arbitrary external iframe code is not accepted. See the page guide and developer documentation for examples.

Can I reuse widgets or recover a page?

Save a widget design to your private collection and add independent copies to pages. Linked timers still refer to the same countdown. Page history keeps up to 20 previous saves, and the editor keeps one unsaved recovery copy per account on the current device when browser storage is available.

Can I embed or export a whole countdown page?

Saved pages have share links and responsive iframe code. The Site must be open to the intended audience. Page JSON exports keep settings, custom code, capsule messages and references, but do not bundle timers or media or run as an offline page. Individual countdowns retain their existing offline HTML exports.
